The 14th Annual Chef to Chef Conference—to be held in Miami, March 5-7, 2023—will kick off with a presentation by the legendary Patrick O’Connell, Chef and Proprietor of The Inn at Little Washington (Va.).
His presentation, Achieving Your Dreams Through Magical Thinking, will explore the unlikely journey of the self-taught chef who established his career by turning liabilities into strengths. He will offer his perspective on cuisine, service and operations while inspiring attendees never to underestimate the power of good food.
“O’Connell is a brilliant chef who has inspired countless others to think beyond what’s possible, to exceed expectations—and to do so in unique and clever ways,” says Michael Matarazzo, CEC, Executive Chef of Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Va., and one of the National Conference Coordinators for the Chef to Chef Conference. “His presentation will set an inspiring tone for the rest of the conference.”
O’Connell opened The Inn at Little Washington in 1978 in a former garage on the corner of Main and Middle Streets in Washington, Va. He allied with local farmers and artisanal producers out of necessity—because 40 years ago, nothing but milk was delivered to the town. The Inn has evolved into an international culinary shrine, and Chef O’Connell is often referred to as “the Pope of American cuisine.”
In addition to O’Connell, the 2023 Chef to Chef Conference will feature a dynamic lineup of the club and resort industry’s top talent, who will present on topics tailored to their expertise.
