Club + Resort Chef Honored With Three Awards in B2B Journalism Competition

C+RC received recognition for their award-winning reporting and writing, which encompassed three feature stories: "Redefining Kitchen Culture at Columbine CC," "Cosmic Lessons," and "Ansley's Next Chapter."

The Azbees, an annual awards competition hosted by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), has recognized Club + Resort Chef with multiple accolades. The group received regional content awards in three categories: Bronze in Group Profile, Silver in Individual Profile, and Gold in Q&A.

Joanna DeChellis, the Editor of Club + Resort Chef, received the Gold award in the Q&A category for her interview with Jeff Kenser, the Executive Chef of Columbine CC, featured in the story Redefining Kitchen Culture at Columbine CC. The Q&A sheds light on the club’s culinary team, which comprises more women than men, thus representing a new vanguard of culinary talent filling important roles in high-end club kitchens. Chef Kenser, a vocal supporter of these culinarians, shares his perspective, and the story showcases these talented individuals and their impact on the culinary program’s success.

DeChellis also received the Silver award in the Individual Profile category for her feature story Cosmic Lessons, which profiles William Rogers, CEC, CCA, the Executive Chef of Cosmos Club. The profile captures the ups and downs of Rogers’ career, spanning his journey through various clubs to his present position. It explores how, for Rogers, success is not a static achievement but rather a measure of individual growth within his team and the culinary experience they deliver.

Isabelle Gustafson, Senior Editor of Club + Resort Chef, was honored with the Bronze award in the Group Profile category for her feature story Ansley’s Next Chapter. Gustafson extensively researched and wrote about the profound influence of Executive Chef and Certified Master Chef J. Kevin Walker on the culinary industry and Ansley Golf Club. The article also covers the transition of his Executive Sous Chef, Shannon Farmer, to the position of Executive Chef after Walker’s retirement.
